"DINO's AMBC Challenge" - American Mountain Bike Challenge

The weekend offers a variety of activities and opportunities that include trail running, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, camping, fishing, and more - this is the place to be for Indiana outdoor enthusiasts! It's the 8th annual DINO Challenge Festival at Muscatatuck County Park. >> TRAIL MAP <<

Mountain Bike racing starts with the AMBC Short-Track Saturday morning, and the Downhill on Saturday afternoon. Both events are the State Championship in their respective disciplines. Both also are a chance to earn Bonus Points toward the DINO Mountain Bike Series. The weekend's biggest event is Sunday's DINO Challenge AMBC cross-country race. The cross-country course is hilly and scenic. Lap length is about 6 miles.

Short-Track MTB race - 30 minutes plus one lap, on a loop of under 1 mile, contains mostly mowed lanes and fire road.

Special event entry fee for Short-track and Downhill: $20 each ($25 for non-USA Cycling members) or $30 for both events ($35 for non-USAC). Registration opens at 9:15.

Camping: Onsite primitive camping is just $1 per person – pay DINO at registration or self-pay station at campground entrance. No reservations needed. Hookups also available, call 1(800)928-3667 to reserve.

Directions: North Vernon is halfway between Madison and Columbus IN. From the center of North Vernon (SR 7 and US 50), go south on SR 7 one mile, watch for the park entrance on the right just before crossing the river. View Map

The Bicycle Station will be active this weekend at the DINO Challenge Festival, giving demo rides on five full suspension demo bikes, both 29er and 26". Test rides are Sat from 10-5 and Sunday 9-1. They'll also have ESPRESSO Sunday morning. Mechanic on duty: Sat 9:30-10:30 & 1:30-3:30; Sunday 10-11:45 & 12:15-1:15.
